Cherry plum jam

I am adding this recipe feeling extremely proud because I have made it using the first cherry plums of the tree I planted in our garden a few years ago!

Steps
- 1
Wash the cherry plums thoroughly, cut them and remove the stones without discading them.
- 2
Place the cherry plums in a pot with their juices, the sugar as well as the stones that you have kept which you tie in a piece of cheesecloth.
- 3
Allow it to boil over strong heat for about 5 minutes and then turn down the heat leaving it to simmer until it sets. Stir often using a wooden spoon so that the jam doesnt' stick to the pot.
- 4
It takes about 35-40 minutes of boiling. A little while before you remove it from heat, add the lemon juice.
- 5
Store while hot in sterilized jars and turn them upside down until they cool.
