Rub the kunafa pastry with the ghee and butter mixture, then spread half of it in a baking dish.

Spread the cream or clotted cream evenly over the kunafa layer.

Add the remaining kunafa on top of the cream, then bake in the oven from the bottom until golden. Turn on the top heat to brown the surface.

Once out of the oven, pour the hot syrup over the kunafa while it is still hot.

To make the syrup: Combine 2 cups sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer until it reaches a slightly thick, pourable consistency. Remove from heat, let cool, and store in an airtight container.

Garnish the kunafa with your choice of toppings. Enjoy!
