Heat the ghee in a non-stick pan, add the mustard seeds, Chana dal, curry leaves, red chilli, green chilli, coconut and saute them on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes.

Add the semolina and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, stir continuously.

Add 2 cups of hot water, curd and salt, mix well and cook on medium flame for 3 - 4minute, while stirring occasionally.

Switch off the flame cover it for 1 minute, mix well and turn into serving bowl.

Garnish with grated coconut, tempered red chilli and curry leaves. Serve hot with chutney of your choice.

I served this coconut upma in a cake shape and drizzled some tangy green Chutney on the top.

Coconut Upma is such a great hit coz this does not require much pre-preparation and is absolutely fuss-free! As I haven’t use any Veggies.

If you want you can add Veggies of your choice It is also sure to be relished by the whole family. Just serve with chutney, sambhar or simply a cup of curds to make a lovely meal.
