This is a super easy, kid/family friendly recipe that takes very little prep time, but roughly 45 minutes or so in the oven.

Serve with steamed rice, lettuce wraps, with a side of stir fried noodles, whatever floats your boat. And make sure to spoon lots of that delicious pan sauce onto the chicken because it is finger lickin' tasty. :)

Ingredients

4 to 6 servings
  1. 3lbs. bone-in skin-on chicken pieces. Drums always seem to work well for the kids
  2. 1/4 cupHoisin sauce
  3. 2 Tablespoonsregular soy sauce
  4. 2green onions, choppes
  5. 1 Tablespoonoil
  6. 2-3 clovesgarlic, minced
  7. 1large shallot, minced or thinly slices (or 1/4 cup minced yellow or red onion if you don't have shallots)
  8. 1 Tablespoonsugar
  9. 1/4 teaspoonblack pepper
  10. 2 Tablespoonswhite wine or sake (any kind is fine - just not super sweet, unless you like your food extra sweet)

Steps

    Dump all the ingredients along with the chicken in an oven safe pot or pan in which all the chicken can sit in one layer and mix thoroughly. Allow chicken to marinate at least 20 minutes and up to overnight in the refrigerator.

    35 minutes before you're ready to cook, take the chicken out of the fridge and let it come up to room temp.

  3. 3

    15 minutes before you're ready to cook, pre-heat the oven to 425F.

  4. 4

    Make sure the chicken is sitting in one layer, and roast in the 425F oven for 45 to 50 minutes for bone-in, skin-on chicken.
