We've all been there. We've all seen it. Hard boiled eggs that end up with that ugly greyish-green ring around the yolk. This means the egg was over cooked, and it's easy to remedy. Follow this method and you will end up with perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs. Every. Single. Time.

Ingredients

  1. Eggs - any quantity
  2. Cold water

Steps

  1. 1

Gently place eggs in a pot large enough to leave the eggs in a single layer. Fill with enough cold water to cover eggs by 1 inch.

  2. 2

Place uncovered on stove over medium high heat. Bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes. Turn off heat, but leave on burner. Place lid on pot. Let sit covered for 9 minutes.

  3. 3

After time remove from stove. Pour off hot water (careful not to dump any eggs, ha!). Fill pot with cold water, pour off, repeat until water in pot stays cold, and pot is cool to the touch.

  4. 4

When water stays cold when added leave pot full with enough to cover eggs. Leave to soak 30 minutes to 1 hour to fully cool eggs.

  5. 5

Peel and prepare for whatever use you have in mind. Note: There are a million "tricks" for easily peeled eggs, but it truly is best to use "less than fresh" eggs. About a week after purchase is best.

Cooking is a hobby and a passion of mine. I love cooking and trying new and different things. The best thing about cooking? I get to prepare delicious food for my family and friends that they (almost) always love! Lol.Many of my recipes are experiments in what I could make with what was available at the time. Many are simply my version of classic and/or popular dishes. A few are variations of recipes I have found elsewhere online but adjusted to our tastes. No matter what, though, each of my recipes is tried and tested before posting and I hope you find as much joy in preparing them as I do.
