Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 tbspButter
  2. 1 mediumOnion, chopped
  3. 1 cloveGarlic, or 2 if you like, minced
  4. 1 pintsHeavy Whipping Cream, at almost room temp
  5. 1 tbspFlour
  6. 1 boxSliced Mushrooms, or about 10 medium ones, thinly sliced
  7. 8 ozCooked Ham, sliced
  8. 2 tspItalian Seasonig, or season to taste with Oregano and Basil
  9. 1Black Pepper
  10. 1Sweet Paprika
  11. 1Salt. I usually don't need it, the salt in the ham diffuses into the sauce, that's enough for me

  1. 1

    Melt butter in a medium saucepan, add onions and cook until translucent.

  2. 2

    Add garlic and cook until it becomes fragrant.

  3. 3

    Add flour, stir well and cook until bubbly and golden.

  4. 4

    Add cream, bring to a boil. Careful not to overcook. It will raise fast and cause a mess if one is not careful. (Done it before)

  5. 5

    Lower heat and let sauce simmer. Add seasoning, pepper and paprika. DO NOT add salt at this time.

  6. 6

    When the sauce has thickened, Add mushrooms and ham.

  7. 7

    Increase heat to a slow boil and cook until the mushrooms soften. I like mine with a little bite left in them.

  8. 8

    Season to taste with additional Italian seasoning, salt, pepper. Serve over pasta, sprinkle with fresh grated parmesan.

Made this, but substituted the flour with Parmesan for a nice and creamy sauce. Like an Alfredo sauce.
