Preheat oven to 400°F.

Mix the brown sugar, butter, and shortening in a medium bowl.

Stir in the remaining ingredients except the jam until crumbly.

Press half of the oat mixture in an ungreased 9 X 13 inch baking pan.

Spread with jam.

Top with remaining oat mixture, pressing lightly onto the jam.

Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Let cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then cut into bars while warm.

Transfer bars to a wire rack to cool completely.
