Refried Beans
I love this recipe because it is so simple and fully customizable. You can add more or less of anything to suit your taste, like if you prefer spicy, add 1/2tsp cayenne to give it a little kick, substitute the chili powder and cumin with a packet of taco seasoning. And you can multiply the recipe and freeze in 1-2cup portions for quick use in the future :ohyeaah

Steps
- 1
In large pot, saute onions in fat until translucent.
- 2
Add garlic & cook an additional 1-2 minutes
- 3
Add beans and milk as needed for desired consistency (more for thinner paste, less for thicker paste)
- 4
Stir in all spices & bring to a slow simmer.
- 5
Cook on low heat for 10-20 minutes stirring occasionally. Add a splash more milk if it cooks down too much
- 6
Once it has cooked down enough & the spices have had enough time for the flavors to infuse, mash beans with a potato masher, fork, immersion blender, etc.
- 7
Serve on burritos, with rice, in a taco salad, whatever you fancy!
