Ingredients

  • 1/2 cupbutter
  • 1/4 cuplard or shortening
  • 1 cupsugar
  • 1egg
  • 4 tbspmolasses
  • 2 1/4 cupflour
  • 1 tspcinnamon
  • 1 tspginger
  • 2 tspbaking soda
  • 1/2 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tspground cloves

Steps

  1. 1

    Pre heat oven to 350°F.

  2. 2

    Cream lard or shortening with the sugar.

  3. 3

    Add egg, molasses and dry ingredients, mix well.

  4. 4

    Form into 3/4" ball's and role into additional sugar. Do not flatten.

  5. 5

    Bake at 350°F for 12 minutes, remove and cool on a rack.
