dissolve yeast cake in 1/4 cup warm water

pour 1 cup boiling water in bowl containing margarine or crisco, salt, and sugar, stirring to dissolve. When mixture is lukewarm, add yeast and egg. Slowly add flour, stirring just until smooth.
