In small bowl. Combine yeast & 1/8 tsp sugar in 1/3 cup warm water and set aside for yeast to proof

In medium size bowl combine the powdered milk, 1 tbsp sugar, salt, shortening, & hot water. Stir until all is disolved

after yeast is frothy add to the milk mixture

In large bowl add sifted flour.

Pour milk & yeast mixture into flour and beat thouroughly with wooden spoon

Cover with saran wrap & set aside in warm spot for 30 minutes

Arrange 6 - (3 1/2") rings on a griddle

Sprinkle small amount of cornmeal in each ring.

drop 2 large spoonfuls of dough in each ring. Dough will be very sticky

Sprinkle small amount of cornmeal on dough in each ring

If electric griddle, set to 300'. If stove griddle, set to med low.

Cook each side 5-6 minutes. Cover rings with cookie sheet while grilling

Remove from griddle & let cool completely

Split with fork and toast. Add butter & jam or whatever desired & Enjoy
