Steps
- 1
heat pot with olive oil or any kind of oil.
- 2
add cup of rice once oil is hot
- 3
cook rice till you see a slight browning.
- 4
add onion to rice and cook for about 2 minutes.
- 5
add minced garlic and stir frequently for about a minute since it will burn easily.
- 6
add diced tomato and cook for about another 2 minutes. By this time rice should have a good browning to it
- 7
add chicken broth and water, or just water. chicken broth gives it a wonderful flavor though.
- 8
add 1/2 a small can of tomato sauce.
- 9
add your 2 tablespoons of knor and stir
- 10
leave cooking, covered for about 10-15 minutes or until you can see rice is fully cooked. add water if needed or knor if missing flavor.
- 11
This is absolutely not a dry dish. should be only slightly soupy and should have a light red color to it.
- 12
if available you can add cooked chicken to rice as it cooks.
- 13
I come from Mexican and Spanish heritage and living in South TX we can easily aquire knor, but not sure if others can. should be found in the ethnic section.
