Ingredients

10 minutes
Serves 2 servings
  1. 4 tablespoonsfinely shredded kunafa dough
  2. 2 tablespoonsmelted butter (about 25 grams)
  3. 1 pinchsaffron or a few drops of yellow food coloring for the butter
  4. 1 canlight cream (such as Almarai or any light table cream, about 5.5 ounces/155 grams)
  5. 1 packagelight cream cheese (such as Philadelphia Light, about 7 ounces/200 grams)
  6. 2 tablespoonslight mozzarella cheese
  7. 1 cuphoney or light syrup (such as Tropicana, or your preferred syrup)

Steps

  1. 1

    Place the melted butter and saffron or yellow food coloring in a skillet over medium heat. Add the kunafa dough and stir to coat evenly with the butter. Lightly toast the kunafa until golden.

    Spread half of the kunafa in the skillet. Add the cream, cream cheese, and mozzarella cheese on top, spreading them evenly.

  3. 3

    Add the remaining kunafa on top, smooth it with a spoon, and cook over very low heat until the bottom is golden. Flip carefully and toast the other side.

    Pour the syrup or honey over the kunafa while it's still hot. Enjoy!
