Ingredients

3 1/2 cupflour (plain)
1 tspsalt
1 tspbaking soda
4 tbspcocoa
1 1/3 cupshortening (crisco)
2 cupbrown sugar (firmly packed)
2 largeeggs
1 cupmilk
2 tspvanilla

preheat oven to 325°F

sift together dry ingredients (except sugar)

cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy
4

blend in eggs

blend in dry ingredients alternately with milk; blend only until mixed
6

stir in vanilla

drop in rounded teaspoons onto a greased cookie sheet
8

bake at 325°F for 11 to 12 minutes
