2 cupflour
1 tspbaking soda
1 tspbaking powder
1/2 tspsalt
2 tbspsugar
1 cupmilk
1 tbsplemon juice
3 tbspmelted butter
1/2 cupraisins (optional)

sift dry ingredients

mix with a fork

add milk, lemon juice, butter and raisins. Kneed until smooth (about 1minute)

flatten dough on cookie sheet in 7" circles 1 1/2" thick

press large floured knife into center half way through. Repeat in a cross.

bake at 375°F until top is golden

place on wire rack and brush with one tbsp melted butter
