Ingredients

  • samosa dough
  • 1 cupall-purpose flour –
  • 1/4 cupsemolina –
  • 1 teaspoonsalt –
  • 1 tablespoonoil –
  • water – to make a dough
  • raw banana stuffing
  • raw banana – 1 medium, boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 cupboiled peas –
  • green chili – 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • cumin seeds – 1 and 1/2 teaspoon
  • 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder –
  • 1 teaspoonred chili powder –
  • 1/2 teaspoongaram masala –
  • 1/2 teaspoondry mango powder –
  • to tastesalt –
  • coriander leaves – 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
  • other ingredients
  • sesame seeds – as required
  • oil – to deep fry

Steps

  1. 1

    To make samosa dough

    Add maida, semolina, salt to a bowl. Mix well. Add oil and rub well with your fingers. Add water little by little and knead it to make a soft dough. Cover and keep the dough aside for 10 minutes until you make the stuffing for pinwheel sandwich.

      In another mixing bowl, add all the ingredients mentioned under “for stuffing” and mix it well.  Check salt and add more if necessary.  Keep it aside.

    Making raw banana pinwheel sandwich 
     After 10 minutes, take out the dough and knead it for a couple of minutes.

  6. 6

    Divide the dough into two equal sized portions.  Dust one portion of the dough with flour and roll it slightly thicker than chapati using a rolling pin.  Same way, make 2 portions of the filling also.

    Cut the edges of the circle to make a pastry sheet.  Take one portion of the filling and spread it nicely in the rolled pastry sheet.

    Now roll the pastry sheet with the filling and cut it into pieces.

    Now rub the pinwheels into sesame seeds and keep it aside.

  10. 10

    Heat oil in a pan.  When the oil is hot enough, gently slide the prepared pinwheels into the hot oil until they become crispy and golden brown.

    Once done, remove them from hot oil using a slotted spoon and place them on an absorbent paper to drain excess oil.

  12. 12

    Serve raw banana samosa pinwheels as an appetizer or as a snack with a cup of hot tea.
