Heat oven to 400°F. Butter whole 12 muffin cup pan.

Milk and egg should be room temperature. Beat milk, applesauce and egg in a medium bowl. And in flour, sugar, baking powder and salt all at once. Stir until flour is just moistened; batter will be lumpy. Fold in fruit. Do not over stir the batter.

Fill cups 3/4 full. Bake until golden brown, 16-20 minutes. Remove from tins after 10 minutes.
