In a large saucepan over medium heat, saute onions and garlic in olive oil until onion is translucent.

Stir in tomatoes, salt, sugar, and bay leaf. Cover, reduce heat to simmer for 90 min.

while sauce is simmering add all the meatball ingredients in a large bowl. mix together well and form into about 2 1/2 in balls.

after 90 min, stir in tomato paste, basil, black pepper and meatballs.

simmer an additional 2hrs. serve with favorite pasta and enjoy! :)

*Tip for added flavor add chunks of italian sausage along with meatballs to the sauce.
