A flatmate told me that a good chef is someone who can cook a great dish from almost anything.
I had all of the ingredients needed in my cupboard and wanted to make something with a flavour that stood out.

Ingredients

15 mins
1 serving
  1. 1 smallWhiskey
  2. 1 smallBlack Treacle
  3. 2 eachBeef Burgers
  4. 1 tbspColeslaw
  5. 1 smallIceberg Lettuce
  6. 1 smallRed Onion
  7. 1 tbspOlive Oil
  8. 2 sliceCheese Singles
  9. Bacon (Optional)
  10. 1 mediumBread Bun

Cooking Instructions

15 mins
  1. 1

Place a frying pan onto the stove on the highest temperature, then add a little more oil than you normally would.

  2. 2

While the pan heats, mix some black treacle and whiskey in a 1:1 ratio. Make however much of this as you like, it'll be the sauce. Be warned, it has a strong whiskey taste

  3. 3

Chop half a red onion and chuck it into the pan along with two burgers.

  4. 4

Leave the pan for a moment to mix the sauce again, then butter the bread bun (or roll if you prefer to call it that)

  5. 5

Cook the burger however you normally like your meat to be done. Mine had a small amount of pink in the centre when I came to eating it. Cook bacon at this point with the onions and burger if you want them (I didn't make any bacon for mine)

  6. 6

Once the burger seems cooked, place the buns face down in the pan alongside. Leave this until the bun is crispy on the surface like a fried bread.

  7. 7

From bottom up, serve the burger in this order: Bottom bun, Coleslaw, cut lettuce, whiskey sauce, burger, sauce, cheese, burger, cheese, even more sauce, top bun.

  8. 8

Eat with whatever side you like to enjoy your burgers with. If I missed anything in the instructions, feel free to let me know.
