Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cuppacked brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cupvegetable oil or melted butter
  • 5 cupall purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tspbaking soda
  • 1/4 tspground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tspsalt
  • 2 cuphot water
  • 1 1/2 cupmolasses
  • 4 largeeggs
  • 5 tspbaking powder
  • 2 tspground cinnamon
  • 6 tspground ginger, or to taste

    Preheat oven to 350°F and grease and flour 1 large baking pan or 3-4 loaf pans.

    Add all the wet ingredients to a large bowl and combine.

  3. 3

    Whisk the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.

  4. 4

    Mix just until combined, do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Pour batter into prepared pan/s and bake for about an hour, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
