Ingredients

5 servings
  1. Atta Mark 1 Wholewheat Flour
  2. 1/4 CupVegetable Oil/less or more
  3. 1 Cupor more Hot water

Steps

  1. 1

    Mix water and 1/8 cup vegetable oil, boil on high heat. Pour the hot water into the flour a little at a time

    Use a wooden/metal spoon to start mixing the dough and water since it is very hot

    Mix with the wooden spoon and keep checking if the water has cooled. Once cool enough to handle use your hand to start kneading

    Punch a hole in the middle of the dough. Pour in 1/8 vegetable oil

    Knead the dough with your hand until soft yet pliable, you will have a smooth dough. Cover with clean kitchen towel and let rest for 30 minutes

    After 30 minutes, place dough on floured surface

    Pinch a small sized dough according to your preference

    Pinch several dough and form into smooth round balls until you finish the dough

    Roll out one of the dough into a round it does not have to be perfectly round

    Spread oil on the surface of the dough. Make a cut from the center of the rolled out dough until the edge

    Start folding in the dough being led by the line you cut on the dough

    Go around the cut line folding it in

    You will end up with a cone like shape

    Tuck in completely the bottom of the cone like dough

    Tusk in the opposite end too and form it into a round ball. Repeat until all your dough is oiled and tucked in

    Take one of the round dough and roll it out into perfect round according to your thickness preference

    Heat a pan, place the wholewheat chapati on it. Let it cook a few minutes until slight bubbles form at the top

    Flip the chapati, spread oil around it and flip. Spread oil on the second side too

    Coo the wholewheat chapati flipping until they are golden brown with dark patches on them. Place on plate with kitchen towel to keep warm as you finish the rest. Serve with your favorite stew, meat, or even tea in the morning
