This is a traditional Bengali delicacy of Chitol fish in which the gada or fleshy portion of the fish is scraped and made into dumplings adding coconut and onion and served either fried or dipped in a gravy.

This is a traditional Bengali delicacy of Chitol fish in which the gada or fleshy portion of the fish is scraped and made into dumplings adding coconut and onion and served either fried or dipped in a gravy.

Scrape the gada portion of the fish raw from it's thick skin.Check and discard bones if any.

Scrape coconut.Add some to the fish.Add mashed boiled potato to the fish.Add 1 finely chopped onion,ginger paste and chopped green chillies to the fish.Add salt and sugar to taste.Mix all and add 2 tbsp flour.Make into dumplings and fry in fuming hot oil.

For the curry, fry 2 medium sized chopped onions in 2 tbsp oil till soft and brown.Add ginger garlic paste, tomato puree, scraped coconut, haldi and red chilli powder, salt and sugar to taste.Fry well and add 1 cup water and bring to boil.Dip the dumplings in the curry and boil for few minutes.Sprinkle garam masala powder and garnish with coriander leaves.
