#tradition I've made this recipe two years in a row for Thanksgivings. I had never worked with Czechoslovakian dishes before this one, and now I cant seem to stop implementing their dishes into my family's life. It's generally easy, but I do recommend this to intermediates. These cookies are sooo tasty and come straight from the heart of a Czech grandmother. You will definitely enjoy

Ingredients

about 2 hours
48 servings
  1. 2 (8 ounce)packages of room temperature cream cheese
  2. 1/2 cuphoney
  3. 2 cupsunsalted butter, softened
  4. 1 (12 ounce)can of poppy seed filling
  5. 1egg white
  6. 1/2 cupconfectioners sugar for dusting
  7. 4 cupsall purpose flour
  8. 1 poundchopped walnuts
  9. 1egg

Cooking Instructions

about 2 hours
  1. 1

Mix the cream cheese and butter in a large bowl until well blended (I like to use my hands, but if you don't like getting dirty use a large spoon.)

  2. 2

Begin to mix in flour one cup at a time. Once the doe becomes stiff, place it onto the counter and kneed until it isn't sticky.

  3. 3

    Continue kneading for five minutes

  4. 4

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

  5. 5

Begin to work on the filling. Crush the walnuts to a fine consistency in a food processor. Stir in the egg and honey.

  6. 6

On a well floured surface, roll out the doe to a 1/4 inch thickness. Cut it into 3x3 square inches. Place a teaspoon of the walnut filling in half and use the poppy seed filling for the rest.

  7. 7

Roll up the squares and make sure to seal the edges. Place the cookies 2 inches apart from eachother on an ungreased cookie sheet and brush with egg white.

  8. 8

Bake them for 15-17 minutes, or until lightly browned.

  9. 9

Once they have cooled, dust them with confectioners sugar and serve. I would love to see your guy's pictures! :)
