This is an excellent side dish for a main course, pairing well with beef, pork, chicken, or fish. It can also be the main dish.
Steps

In a large, deep pot, heat the water over high heat without bringing it to a boil.

Add the chayote and salt.
- 3
Add the butter, preferably in cubes on top, and do not stir.
- 4
Cover the pot, reduce the heat to medium, and let it cook for half an hour.
- 5
After the time has passed, stir the chayote and adjust the salt to taste.
- 6
Serve hot.
