Youtiao

I had this first time in a restaurant, as a starter and I liked it. Youtiao is normally eaten for breakfast alongside soy milk, that's what my Chinese friend, Lin told me. She gave me this recipe. Well I prefer dipping it in sweet chilli sauce. You can try it either way!

In a bowl, mix flour baking powder, baking soda and salt. Then slowly adding the water, knead into a soft dough. Cover it loosely and let it rest for 30 minutes at least.

On a floured surface, roll out the dough. Using a sharp knife, cut into 2inches wide and 9inches long stripes.

Deep fry each stripe in hot oil at medium heat. Remove them once they are golden brown. Ready to serve.
