Preheat oven to 350°

Prepare two baking pans by buttering and lightly flouring

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl sieve to combine

Cream butter until fluffy and add sugar. Cream together

Add eggs one at a time and mix until combined

Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternatively, begin and end with flour. Combine well

Add vanilla and mix until thoroughly combined

Divide into two..one half add cocoa and mix thoroughly

Divide among pans.. Adding alternatively the one with cocoa and the other without

Bake for 45 minutes until edges then from the pan and toothpick inserted into the middle of cakes comes out clean

Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for about ten minutes

Turn into a flat plate.
