Ingredients

  1. 1 cupBarley
  2. 1/2 cupchana dal
  3. 1 tbspghee
  4. to tasteSalt
  5. 1 tspblack pepper powder
  6. 1 tspwhole cumin seeds
  7. 3.5 cupswater
  8. 1/2 cupchopped carrots and peas

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak 1 cup barley and 1/2 cup chana daal at night

  2. 2

    For cooking take a pressure cooker
    Add ghee 1 tablspoon

  3. 3

    Add whole cumin to it

  4. 4

    When cumin crackles add
    dal(water drained & kept aside) and roast it for 1-2 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add chopped carrots and peas
    Stir for 2-3 minutes and then temper it with just black pepper and salt to taste

  6. 6

    Then add barley and stir everything again

  7. 7

    Added hot water 3-31/2 cups and closed the lid of cooker.

  8. 8

    Give 2-3 whistles to it and switch off the gas

  9. 9

    Let the pressure release on it's own

  10. 10

    Have it with curd with black salt & bhuna cumin powder

  11. 11

    Relish hot.
