Steps
- 1
Marinate the beef for 15 minutes with minced lemongrass, garlic, chili, and seasonings (1 teaspoon seasoning powder, 2 teaspoons soy sauce, a pinch of black pepper, a pinch of MSG, and 3 tablespoons cooking oil).
- 2
Line the bottom of the air fryer basket with betel leaves. For crispier leaves, use a single layer; for a softer texture, use more layers as preferred.
- 3
Arrange the beef on top of the betel leaves. Brush a little of the marinade over the beef. Slice the onion and place it around the beef for extra flavor.
- 4
Set the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and cook for 15 minutes. During cooking, you can open the fryer to adjust, brush on more marinade or oil if the meat looks dry. I prefer the beef just cooked through, so I don't overcook it—flip the meat while it's still slightly moist.
- 5
Transfer to a plate and serve hot with chili sauce.
