I am from Assam and this dish with dry shrimps and mustard leaves is an authentic traditional dish of the region which I learnt from my Mother. It is too delicious and flavorful dish.If you don't like dry shrimps you can stuff the leaves with your favourite ingredients also.

Ingredients

20 minutes
  1. 100 gmdry shrimp
  2. 1big Onion chopped
  3. 2-3green Chilli chopped
  4. 2 clovesGarlic chopped
  5. 1/2 teaspoonred Chilli powder
  6. Salt as per taste
  7. 1 tablespoonMustard oil
  8. 2 teaspoonoil
  9. As neededGreen fresh Mustard leaves
  10. As neededFew toothpicks to seal the parcels

Steps

20 minutes
  1. 1

    Heat 1 tablespoon of mustard oil in a pan.

  2. 2

    Add cleaned and washed dry shrimps and saute for 2-3 minutes to release flavour.

    Next add chopped onion, chopped chilli and garlic.

  4. 4

    Fry for 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Add red chilli powder and salt.(Add salt after taste, as dry fish have already salt in them.)

    Add 2-3 tablespoon of water, cover and cook for about 5 minutes in low heat to cook the shrimp.

  7. 7

    After 5 minutes remove the lid, check the seasoning and remove from heat.

    Clean and pat dry the mustard leaves.

  9. 9

    Take one leaf, put 1 teaspoon of prepared shrimp in the center.

    Fold the leaf from all sides to make a small parcel.

    Seal the parcel with a toothpick.

    Make other parcels following the same procedure.

    Heat little oil in a non stick pan.

  14. 14

    Add the parcels in the pan and shallow fry them in both sides until the parcels are soft and cooked.

    Transfer them to a serving dish and serve as side dish.
