This is a highly nutritious vegetable that I was taught to prepare by my mum and I find it very yummy of course prepared with msherekha (local ingredient) very key ingredient in this recipe for a tender and tasty delicacy.

Peel, wash and cut the pumpkin leaves

Drain off all the water and put it on a pan then add msherekha (local ingredient made from specific ash) then put it to boil for about 7 minutes on medium heat.

Stir and remove from heat then drain off the excess water. Cut and fry onions, tomatoes, capsicum, salt, royco into a fine sauce.

Add in the boiled pumpkin leaves and sauté for 5 minutes then add cream or fresh milk and let it simmer for another 5 minutes. Serve with hot ugali.
