Steps
- 1
Mix the flour with a pinch of salt, then add the cup of oil and melted margarine. Continue mixing with your fingers only. Add the egg and orange blossom water, and keep mixing until you get a smooth dough.
- 2
Divide the dough into two portions, then divide each portion into 6 pieces. Shape each piece into a ball, place each set of 6 balls in a plastic bag, and let the dough rest as long as possible.
- 3
Mix the ground peanuts with an equal amount of sugar and a little cinnamon. Stir well (do not knead). Add a little orange blossom water and let it rest.
- 4
Sprinkle cornstarch on your work surface and on each dough ball. Roll out each ball with a rolling pin, then brush generously with cornstarch. Roll out the remaining 6 pieces the same way, stacking them on top of each other, and roll them out together. Roll the dough around the rolling pin, then transfer it to a baking pan greased with melted clarified butter. Add the peanut filling. Repeat the process with the other 6 pieces. Trim the edges with a knife. Cut the baklava into pieces using a ruler. Shape small flowers from leftover dough, place them on top of the baklava, and decorate each with a whole peanut. Bake at 340°F (170°C). Once baked, pour cold syrup over the baklava and let it soak overnight.
