I've been craving shumai lately, but the ones from street vendors are too greasy, so I decided to make a lighter version at home! Now I can enjoy a few more without any guilt.

I've been craving shumai lately, but the ones from street vendors are too greasy, so I decided to make a lighter version at home! Now I can enjoy a few more without any guilt.

Soak the shiitake mushrooms until soft, then finely chop them along with the water chestnuts.

Mix all the ingredients together, add the seasonings, and combine to make the filling. Wrap the filling in shumai wrappers.

Steam over boiling water for 20–25 minutes. Be careful, as the shumai wrappers can stick together.
