Ingredients

  • 6 phyllo dough, sheets
  • 350 gmeat, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 2 tablespoonsparsley, chopped finely
  • 1 teaspoonground ginger
  • 1 teaspoonground cumin
  • butter melted
  • olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoonhot sauce, (harissa)
  • 1/2 teaspoonpaprika
  • salt to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoontomato paste

    For the filling, heat the oil in a saucepan,add in the onion, red pepper, and minced meat. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Stir in the parsley, ginger, cumin, paprika, tomato paste, hot sauce, and salt. Cook until the meat is done and adjust the seasoning to taste.

    Preheat the oven to 180C.

  4. 4

    Brush well the phyllo sheets with butter, so that they become crispy when baking.

  5. 5

    Cover the bottom and sides of a round baking pan (26 cm in diameter) with 3 phyllo sheets and place the fourth at the center to have 2 layers of phyllo dough

  6. 6

    Spread evenly the meat filling over the phyllo sheets. Fold the sides of the phyllo sheets over the meat filling.

  7. 7

    Place the remaining 2 phyllo sheets on top and tuck in the sides of the phyllo sheets inside the baking pan.

  8. 8

    Bake in the oven for 45 minutes, until the pastilla turns slightly golden.

  9. 9

    Serve hot with salad on the side.

I am really passionate about my studies. I also love shopping, reading, visiting art galleries… and cooking. I began cooking on my own when I first moved to England. Restaurants here are very expensive. So when I want to eat I usually cook at home with my roommate. She is Italian so I have learned from her how to cook a few Italian dishes and taught her in return some of our Lebanese treasures! I am reaaally into French cuisine and especially the classics, onion soup, gratin dauphinois, ect. I have subscribed to a French cooking magazine to learn how to cook them properly. I try to get my ingredients from the street markets so they are fresh and yummy!!!!My friends love to eat my Lebanese dishes now they are also loving the French new chef in me :) Hope you will like it too.I look forward for your comments :) Dishes I am famous for: Lebanese chicken with rice, crème brulee, gratin dauphinois
