An easy Lebanese recipe: Lentils are boiled, pureed then cooked with rice, onion and cumin.
Steps

Fry onion slices in oil, over medium fire for 5 mins.

Boil the lentils (+salt) around ½ hour in generous water. Grind in blender to get a puree.

Add onion to the (lentils puree), with ½ cup water.Put on medium fire, once it starts boiling, add rice and cumin.

Boil for another 10-20 mins until it becomes a well combined.

Pour in serving dish, can be eaten cold or hot.
