Ingredients

  • 1beaten egg
  • 1 1/4 cupbuttermilk
  • 1/4 cupmelted shortening
  • 1 tbslight molasses
  • 1 cupflour
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tspbaking soda
  • 2 tspbaking powder
  • 1/2 cupyellow corn meal

Steps

  1. 1

    Combine egg, buttermilk, shortening, and molasses

  2. 2

    Add sifted dry ingredients and corn meal

  3. 3

    Stir until just moistened

  4. 4

    Bake on an ungreased griddle

  5. 5

    Makes 12 pancakes if 1/4 measure is used.
