Dates provide a wide range of essential nutrients and it's high content of sugar gives a lot of energy when you are fasting. It contains a lot of protein and fiber and soft dates can be cooked in clarified butter/ghee, pitted with nuts of your choice and be served yummy and healthy sweets. Very good with kids this sweet goes well with the adults too who love sweets but try to avoid store bought ones. Enjoy and happy eating!!!

Ingredients

  • 4 cupsDe seeded dates
  • 1 tbspGhee
  • 1 cupChopped nuts

Steps

  1. 1

    In a nonstick pan add 1 tablespoon of ghee or clarified butter and as it heats up add 4 cups of de-seeded and chopped dates or khajurs in it. Stir in low flame for 15 minutes or till they get tender.

  2. 2

    Add 1 cup of chopped nuts(cashew nuts, almonds and pistachios) to it. Mix them well.

  3. 3

    Mix well till it forms a mass. No need to add sugar. As it forms a mass switch off the gas and let them cool. As it cools down make balls out ot with the help of your palms and serve immediately or keep it in fridge and serve chilled.
