Ingredients

Serves 4 servings
  1. 7 ozcooked bacon pieces or ham strips (about 200 grams)
  2. 2 1/2 cupsmilk (about 600 ml)
  3. 2heaping tablespoons thick sour cream
  4. 7eggs
  5. 1/3 cupall-purpose flour (about 50 grams)
  6. 1 cupshredded cheese (about 100 grams)
  7. Salt and pepper
  8. 2 pinchesground nutmeg
  9. 1 pinchfresh thyme leaves
  10. 1 handfulchopped chives or green onions

Steps

  1. 1

    Preparation:

    Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).

    Beat the eggs in a large bowl.
    Add the flour and mix well.
    Stir in the spices and chopped herbs.

  2. 2

    In a saucepan, heat the milk with the sour cream.
    Pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture and mix well.

  3. 3

    Season with salt and pepper.
    Add the shredded cheese and mix.
    Butter a tall, oven-safe dish and add the bacon pieces or ham strips.

  4. 4

    Pour the egg mixture over the meat.
    Bake for 40 to 60 minutes, depending on your oven.
    The top should be nicely golden brown.
    Serve with a salad.
