After years of enjoying this in Austria, Bavaria and northern Italy, it was time to make my own! I'm certainly not saying this is authentic but I am saying it hit the spot! I'm thinking to make it again for maybe Boxing Day or New Year's Day! I had a look around online but didn't really find one recipe that was the same. So this is my version based on what I remember from fond holidays and what I found online #dessert #pudding #apples #pastry

Ingredients

1 hour
  1. Roll of puff pastry
  2. 2apples
  3. 30 gsultanas soaked in 2 tablespoons of rum
  4. Teaspooncinnamon
  5. Juice of a lemon
  6. 80 gmelted butter
  7. 80 gbrown sugar plus teaspoon for sprinkling
  8. Icing sugar to serve

Cooking Instructions

1 hour
  1. 1

Soak sultanas in rum for about 3-4 hours. Preheat oven to 180. Core, peel and finely chop apples. Squeeze lemon juice all over. Now mix sultanas and apples together

  2. 2

Add brown sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Spread out pastry. Melt butter in microwave for about 30 secs. Brush half the butter all over

  3. 3

Sprinkle a little sugar on top (I saw recipes that used breadcrumbs but I used sugar instead). Add apple mixture in the middle. Using the parchment paper to help, roll up into a sausage

  4. 4

Glaze top with the rest of the melted butter, make slits with a sharp knife and pop in the oven for about 30-35 mins. Rest for 10 to 15 mins before serving with icing sugar
