Ingredients

30 minutes
makes 15 pc
  1. 1 cupcoarse gram flour (besan)
  2. 1/2 cupclarified butter (ghee)
  3. 1/2 cupsugar
  4. 1 cup +1 tbsp milk
  5. Few strands of saffron
  6. 1 tspcardamom powder
  7. 1/2 cupchopped pistachios

Cooking Instructions

    Soak saffron in 1 tbsp of milk. Heat ghee in a pan. Roast besan on a low flame until it turns golden in colour and turns aromatic.

    Add milk. (While adding milk be careful as the milk spills out) mix. Add sugar. Cook for 2-4 minutes.

    Add cardamom powder and saffron milk.

    Smear some ghee on modak mould and place some pistachios over it. Fill the mould with enough mixture and seal the opening of the mould. Open and remove modak carefully. Repeat and make all the modaks.

    Store in refrigerator and consume within 2 days.
