Simple Caramel Sauce

This is a very simple quick caramel sauce with the option on making it a salted caramel sauce. It's uses are limitless, its a delicious ice cream sauce but is great in cakes, cupcakes, brownies, pies and torte recipes. It can be added to frostings and whipped cream. It can be used as a drizzle for any dessert, popcorn. drink or on fresh fruit!

Ingredients

  1. 4 ouncessalted butter, cut into pieces
  2. 1 cuppacked light brown sugar
  3. 1/2 cupplus 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  4. 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
  5. Option fr salted caramel sauce
  6. 1/2…teaspoon sea salt

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Combine butter, sugar and cream in a saucepan, cook over medium low heat stirring until melted

  2. 2

    Cook at a simmer stirring only once or twice until the sauce is smooth, simmer 4 minutes, sauce will be thin, don't be tempted to cook it longer it thickens as it cools and if overcooked will not be pourable when it's cooled.

    Stir in vanilla. If your making the salted caramel option add the salt now and cool compleatly

    Use as a dessert save on ice cream or fruit. Use in Cake, cupcake, brownie, pie or torte recipes. Add to frostings or whipped cream or use as a finishing drizzle

“Fenway” passed away on 2/3/2021. For the last year she tried to teach her husband of 42 years how to cook like her.
