My Mom used to make this often for my family. She has been gone 18 years, but the recipes & the memories live on. I know she would be so happy that so many of you have made this recipe and enjoyed it. Thank you so much for trying it. :O)

Ingredients

  1. 2 tspcinnamon
  2. 2 tbspbutter
  3. 2 tspvanilla extract (I use extra)
  4. 1/2 tspsalt
  5. 1/2 cupsugar, divided
  6. 3 cupmilk
  7. 10 cupbread cubes ( approximately 1 regular sized loaf)
  8. 8eggs

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F.

    Lightly grease a 9 X 13 inch baking dish.

    Line the bottom of the pan with the bread cubes.

  4. 4

    In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, 4 tablespoons of the sugar, the salt and vanilla.

    Pour the mixture over the bread.

  6. 6

    Dot with butter.

  7. 7

    Let stand for 10 minutes.

    Combine the remaining sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle over the top.

    Bake for about 45 to 55 minutes, until top is golden.

    Serve with syrup & fresh fruit.

Some of my favorite things are family, friends, my pets, cooking, baking, football (Badger & Packer), Brewer baseball, college basketball, car racing, thrift stores, volunteering, and rummage sales. I have a 9 year old rescue dog, and 7 birds ( 6 are rescue) and they range in age from 1 year to over 19 years old. I volunteer for a dog rescue and a shelter, as well as other festivals and organizations.
