I hated all sloppy joes but I loved my gma's... and still do! funny how you become so partial to some things... I always double the recipe and change it up w different spices. I think leftovers are always more flavorful.

Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 1 lbground beef... I use sirloin most of the time
  2. 1 1/2 cuponion chopped
  3. 1 1/2 cupcelery chopped
  4. 1 cancondensed tomato soup
  5. 1/2 cupketchup
  6. 1 1/2 tspcumin
  7. 1 dashsalt and pepper to taste
  8. 6 sliceany kinda buns
  9. 6 slicecheese (I use any kind of cheese). but grma used cheddar or American

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    I chop my onions and celery then saute w a little butter till its kinda a mush consistency.

    meanwhile im browning the ground beef. drain

  3. 3

    add the beef, veggies & spices together in a medium sauce pan on med to low heat.

  4. 4

    add the remainder of the ingredients (tomato soup and ketchup) on medium to low heat.

    turn down heat and simmer for 20-30 mins.

  6. 6

    serve on any kinda bun.. I like mine on a open faced toasted bun w a slice of cheddar on top

Made this tonight for dinner. Turned out great! I subbed green pepper for celery though, because I hate the taste of celery.
