My grandson loves to cook with me and also loves playing with his play dough. I wanted a cookie like his play dough so he could enjoy it with me. The first time we did this he placed the cookies on the cookie sheet and said "easy peasy!" For a 3 year old it was a hit.

Ingredients

  1. 3 1/2 cupAll Purpose Flour
  2. 1 tspBaking Powder
  3. 1/2 tspBaking Soda
  4. 2 stickButter
  5. 1 eachEgg
  6. 1 1/2 cupSugar
  7. 1 tspVanilla
  8. 1Decorator Sugar

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 375

  2. 2

    In large bowl cream softened butter with sugar, egg, and vanilla.

    Sift flour together with baking powder and baking soda on top of creamed mixture.

  4. 4

    Mix all together with wooden spoon. Then knead it with hands into firm dough.

  5. 5

    Roll dough out with rolling pin to 1/4".

  6. 6

    Cut with cookie cutter and place on non-stick or lightly greased cookie sheet.

    Bake for 9-11 minutes depending on whether you want soft cookies or nice brown edge cookies.

    Immediately sprinkle with decorator sugar while hot out of oven.

    Chocolate Coconut variation

    Add 1 cup Hershey's Cocoa and 1 cup sweetened coconut to above recipe. Bake about 10 minutes. Sprinkle with white sugar. Enjoy.
