This meringue topping is good on lemon, coconut cream, banana cream, and chocolate pies. Lemon meringue is my favorite pie so it was important I learned to make it well.

Ingredients

30 mins
  1. 4Egg Whites @ room temperature
  2. 1/4 tspCream of Tartar
  3. 1/2 cupSugar
  4. 1/2 tspVanilla

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Beat egg whites and cream of Tartar until peaks form.

  2. 2

    Gradually add 1/2 cup sugar and continue to beat until peaks are stiff & glossy but not dry.

  3. 3

    Beat in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

  4. 4

    Top your filled pie anchoring the meringue to the edges of pie crust all the way around.

  5. 5

    Bake in 375°F oven for 20 minutes or until top of meringue browns good.

  6. 6

    Let pie cool completely @ room temperature before refrigerating.
