Winter Japanese Leek Stew Winter Japanese Leek Stew
It's winter time and I wanted to make a vegetable stew with Japanese leek instead of onions.Since you don't saute the vegetables with oil, the stew stays light and healthy. To add a wintry feel to your stew, use broccoli or cauliflower instead.I served it with tomato rice on the side. You can serve it with bread also.Cake flour is dissolved in soy milk before adding to the soup, so this way you don't have to worry about the flour clumping up. Soft and Crispy Chicken Breast Topped with Grated Radish Soft and Crispy Chicken Breast Topped with Grated Radish
My dear daughter's favorite food is chicken. This dish contains no salt and pepper and no oil, but it's refreshingly delicious!I cook this chicken in a teflon pan so I don't need to use any oil. It cooks perfectly with just the fat contained in the chicken.Marinating the chicken in sake makes it really soft. I really recommend using a teflon pan. Recipe by Ha-tannookkasan cookpad.japan -
Chinese-Style Steamed Flounder with Plenty of Onions (Scallion Turbot) Chinese-Style Steamed Flounder with Plenty of Onions (Scallion Turbot)
Flounder is also considered to be a high-quality food item in China, but it's cheaper there than it is in Japan. So when I'm in China, I can use fresh flounder. They sell sauce for steamed fish in China, so that makes cooking pretty easy. They're pretty difficult to get in Japan though, so please give this a try. This onion and oil simmer can be used for other fish, not just flounder. So please remember it well. Fresh Scallop Miso Soup Fresh Scallop Miso Soup
I learned about this fresh scallop miso soup when I moved to Yamagata Prefecture. They release a delicious dashi broth that doesn't compare to other shellfish! They taste the best around April-May? So we look forward to this miso soup every year.If you buy fresh scallops, please try this!Do not cook on high heat once the shells are in the water! Also, skim the scum from the pot!You can freeze the scallops with the shells after washing. Then, you can use the frozen scallops as is in Step 2, with no need to thaw them.I recommend stocking cleaned scallops in the freezer they're in season to enjoy them year round.
