Cooking Instructions

Wash the carrots, potatoes amd tomatoes

Peel the carrots and potatoes. You can leave the skin on if you wish.

Take a skewer and insert it from one end.

Using a chopboard, start cutting diagonally. Rotate the potato as you cut until the whole potato is cut. Do the same with carrots

Rub butter on the spirals. Sprinkle spices of your choice.

Bake in a 160 degrees preheated oven until they turn brown at the edge. Serve

For tomato. Place them in hot water for easy removal of the skin. Remove the skin and cut into tiny cubes. Place in a pan and add a little oil, salt and spices. Let it cook until soft.

I heard this idea on the podcast The Sporkful and thought it would be fun to try. Chicken and waffles is classic comfort food and with this recipe you can have it on the go. The maple extract in the waffle mix adds a really nice hint of that sweet maple flavor so you don't have to drench you're portable chicken and waffles in syrup. Dripping maple syrup, while delicious, will slight reduce the portability. Try them with ketchup as well. It sounds weird, but believe me, give it a try. Note: I use bread flour for the chicken and AP flour for the waffle. This is because I had both on hand, if you only have AP flour, don't go out and get bread flour just for the chicken, AP will do just fine. Jon Valdez -

Hi, I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. I have this great Chicken Souvlaki or Kalamaki recipe, which actually translates into Chicken on a stick. Hmm, anyway in Greece when you go to a Soulvaki Fast Food store, (I call it a fast food store because it’s all put together rather quickly), you can either order the usual Pork souvlaki with pita, or you can order (which I personally prefer), Pork or Chicken Kalamaki along with bread which has been dipped into lemon-oregano-salt-pepper sauce. YummmmmmyyyyWhat I usually do is leave the chicken in the marinade sauce overnight in the refrigerator. This makes the chicken tender and absorbs all the aromas from the ingredients that have been added into it. Foodzesty -
