  6. Warm water

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl put your yeast add a few tablespoons of warm water. Set aside for a few minutes till bubbles appear.

  2. 2

In the meantime, sieve your flour(first put one cup) and cardamom into a basin/big bowl, then add sugar. Mix them well

  3. 3

Melt them margarine and add into it an already beaten egg

  4. 4

Add the egg mixture into the flour, then add warm water gradually as you begin to knead. Add the yeast mixture and continue kneading (kukanda). In case you need more water, rinse off the bowl that had the yeast mixture

  5. 5

Gradually add the remaining flour untill you form a solid dough.
*Apply some oil on the dough, cover it and let it rise for 1-2hours. The dough will double up in size

  6. 6

Roll the dough but not too thin.Let be thick kidogo. Cut out the circular shapes using any circular container you might have(you can also use a plastic cup-the side of the mouth). For the holes you can use the lid of a plastic bottle. Let it rise to double in size for 30-45mins

  7. 7

Heat your oil on medium heat, check if it's hot by placing a small piece of dough, if it floats, the oil is hot enough. Put your doughnuts, keeping turning them till the get an even shade of brown on both sides.

Drain the excess oil and serve.
*For extra sweetness  you can coat them with icing sugar while still hot. You can also melt chocolate 🍫  and drizzle it on the doughnuts.
