Simple White Bread

After having countless failed attempts at baking bread, I never gave up but kept trying. I decided to give it a try once more and I'm glad that it turned out super soft.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, dissolve 1 tbsp of sugar in warm water and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam, about 5-10 min.
- 2
Mix the remaining sugar, salt, and oil into yeast and mix in flour one cup at a time. Add more if need be. (Note: Too much flour added-in yields a dry loaf of bread. So if you're worried you added too much, add a bit of warm water until you get the correct consistency).
- 3
Knead the dough for 7-10 min then place in it a well-oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a cling film and allow it to rise until it doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
- 4
After 1 hour, uncover and punch the dough down. Knead for 1 min and divide into 2 halves. Shape into loaves and place them into a greased loaf pan(s). Allow them to rise for 30 min (or until the dough has risen 1 inch above the pans).
- 5
After the dough has risen brush it with milk and Bake at 180°C for 20 min.
- 6
When ready, take the loaves out of the oven and brush them with oil/butter/margarine while hot and Enjoy or allow them to cool down.

Nana's Old-fashioned White Bread Nana's Old-fashioned White Bread
When treated gently this bread is light and airy, but always packed full of flavor. Even if you get a "reject loaf" (aka one that falls while baking) it is still delicious.I don't use shortening in any of my own recipes, but if my Nana used shortening in hers I do not deviate for flavor authenticity and nostalgia purposes. I do use a "modernized method" to make mine because having carpal tunnel makes it difficult and painful to stir and work with thick doughs like this. StephieCanCook -

Basic white bread for bread machine Basic white bread for bread machine
I am a failure sometimes at gadgets. I make this because it doesn’t fail on me (much). Makes a nice heavy bread and my kitchen smells great. The recipe that came with the manual was a culinary nightmare with the top never cooking right. This recipe I found on line is so much better. Make it at night. Then in the morning the bread is still warm... Katatonickat -
Buttermilk White Bread Buttermilk White Bread
My husband is bread lover. And in this situation of self quarantine #stayhome because of the Covid-19 spreading everywhere, we won’t take a chance to go to grocery or bakery just to get the bread. So this is my 1st time of making bread ever. At first I feel nervous because I am going to use buttermilk powder instead of buttermilk. Long short story before the city’s lockdown we couldn’t find any buttermilk or milk at the store. Luckily we got dry cultured buttermilk powder. We just grabbed and brought it home. At that moment we just think “we rather have it and not need it than need it but don’t have it”. So now I have to think how to use it and to not waste it. And here’s I present my homemade buttermilk bread from my kitchen using cultured buttermilk powder. Nia Hiura
