After having countless failed attempts at baking bread, I never gave up but kept trying. I decided to give it a try once more and I'm glad that it turned out super soft.

Ingredients

  1. 3 cupsAll-purpose flour,
  2. 2 1/2 tspinstant dry yeast
  3. 1 1/2 cupswarm water,
  4. Sugar to your liking (I used 2 tbsp brown sugar),
  5. 1/2 tspsalt,
  6. 1/4 cupcooking oil/butter/margarine,
  7. 2 tbspfresh milk

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, dissolve 1 tbsp of sugar in warm water and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam, about 5-10 min.

  2. 2

Mix the remaining sugar, salt, and oil into yeast and mix in flour one cup at a time. Add more if need be. (Note: Too much flour added-in yields a dry loaf of bread. So if you're worried you added too much, add a bit of warm water until you get the correct consistency).

  3. 3

Knead the dough for 7-10 min then place in it a well-oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a cling film and allow it to rise until it doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

  4. 4

After 1 hour, uncover and punch the dough down. Knead for 1 min and divide into 2 halves. Shape into loaves and place them into a greased loaf pan(s). Allow them to rise for 30 min (or until the dough has risen 1 inch above the pans).

  5. 5

After the dough has risen brush it with milk and Bake at 180°C for 20 min.

  6. 6

When ready, take the loaves out of the oven and brush them with oil/butter/margarine while hot and Enjoy or allow them to cool down.
