
Cooking Instructions

In a medium bowl, mix together water, vinegar, and seasonings.

Using a mandolin on a medium setting, slice the cucumbers and onion into the vinegar mixture.

Allow the vinegar mixture to coat all of the cucumber and onion slices. Most likely, they will not be completely submerged.

Store in the refrigerator for at least twelve hours to marinate, but this is optional. They will be best after a couple of days.

Old-fashioned Cucumbers & Onions in Vinegar "Dressing"
This is a recipe I know is widespread and loved by many. This is just the way I was always taught to make it. The amounts of each ingredient for the "dressing" really just depend on how many cukes you have and how big they are, so I'm not listing amounts in the ingredients, but instead telling how much of each I used for this particular batch.

My mother used to make this every summer. It's a family favorite.I simply cut up the cucumber roughly, but my mother like to make thin slices into it so it would resemble an accordion. The marinade can be reused as a salad dressing or sauce if it hasn't gotten too watery. Recipe by Setsumika
