A quick rice dish without a blender, here are all my tips to make it perfect.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Soak the cup of rice in water for 1 hour, then rinse it well and let all the water drain. Use a non-stick pot to prevent sticking. Heat the butter and oil, add sliced onion and garlic. Once golden, add the rice and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Add 2 cups of water using the same measure you used for the rice.
- 2
Add 1 tablespoon of chicken bouillon and the cilantro sprigs. Once it boils, reduce the heat and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. In my case, it takes 13 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 5 to 8 minutes. Add 1 can of drained corn.
- 3
Remove the cilantro, garlic, and onion, and the rice is ready to serve.
- 4
Note: You can add the corn during the cilantro step or at the end (optional). You can choose to remove or keep the onion, garlic, and cilantro. I remove them because I don't like biting into them. I added the corn at the end because I forgot to add it earlier. How do you know when it's ready? The grains are about to burst and there's almost no water left, it dries out. Good luck! If you follow all my steps, it will turn out perfect.

My in-laws (who are farmers) send us tons of corn on the cob every year.Since it's fresh and in season, it tastes delicious when boiled and seasoned simply with salt, but we always look forward to cooking it with rice. The cobs add really good flavor to rice when cooked together. My younger sister, who is a very good cook, taught me that trick.Use as much or as little butter as you want! Of course, it also tastes great without any butter at all. Roast Corn Rice with Canned Corn Roast Corn Rice with Canned Corn
My mother makes steamed corn, and I always roast it with soy sauce. I really love that, but I wondered if it'd go with rice? I like flavored rice better than white rice. So I used a can of corn I had on hand, and added plenty of ginger to come up with this deep flavor. You don't even need a side dish!Fresh corn is in season in the summer. This is easy to make once you roast the corn - it's cheap and has a good texture. My husband had the idea of adding butter, which turned out to be delicious. Use lots of corn for a nice texture, and minced ginger for a better flavor. Helps to fight off the summer chills. Works as a main dish that doesn't need a side.
